"BEAR BEWARE” CLASS A ROARING SUCCESS!

​Our recent class on bear awareness was both educational and fun.  A total of three wildlife specialists from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and two field experts from the Defenders of Wildlife organization talked with us on how to identify our local bear types (mostly Black Bears), how to stay safe around them, and how to make our “attractants” (trash, garbage, fallen tree fruit, chickens, etc.) less likely to cause a “human/bear” interaction. 

​We learned how to use bear spray, using training canisters, and we observed/handled bear-related educational aids (hides, replica scat, foot print casts, bear-safe storage containers, and more).
